During the early to mid-1890s, a shift took place in the world of record-keeping, bringing about a format that resembled what we now recognize as modern-style records. With this shift, the formats began to take on a cleaner and more organized appearance, aligning with the familiar structure we see in modern records today. The modern birth and marriage record format was introduced in 1951. My favourite addition to this format is the inclusion of the name and birth year of the paternal grandfather. I wish they made it so that all four grandparents were listed, but oh well!
